Margaret Sanger: A Life of Passion
Trained as a nurse and midwife in New York’s Lower East Side gritty slums, Margaret Sanger grew aware of the dangers of unplanned pregnancy—both physical and psychological. Sanger ignited a movement that has shaped our society to this day. Her views on reproductive rights have made her a frequent target of conservatives and moral zealots.

In this captivating new biography, the renowned feminist historian Jean H. Baker rescues Sanger from such critiques and restores her to the vaunted place in history she once held.

Why Trump is Not Qualified for President

1) Committing Treason by encouraging Russian foreign intelligence service to commit an act of war (cyberespionage) against the United States.

18 U.S. Code § 2381 – Whoever…is guilty of treason…shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

2) By breaking US law by doing business with Cuba during the Cuba embargo.

3) Using third world dictatorship tactics by threatening to jail Hillary should he be the winner.

4) Locking room talk makes him susceptible to blackmail by foreign intelligence services.

5) For the first time the American intelligence has come out against Trump. The American intelligence community is queasy about him. Michael Hayden, the former head of the CIA and NSA and Michael Morell, the former deputy director of the CIA have both questioned Trump’s fitness for president.

Complete lack of knowledge of global issues.

His antisemitism would make him unreliable supporter of Israel.

Breaking our democratic tradition of not revealing the secret intelligence information that is given during the special secret intelligence briefings for presidential nominees. This is worst than any inadvertent disclosures made by Hillary clinton.

6) Breaking our democratic tradition of presidential nominees releasing their tax returns for public scrutiny which dates back to Richard Nixon.

7) Breaking our democratic tradition of presidential nominees releasing their medical records.

8) Trump is racist.

Trump implied that Gonzalo Curiel, because of his Mexican heritage, could not fairly hear the class action case against his for-profit Trump University.

Trump was the leading proponent of “birtherism,” the racist conspiracy theory that President Barack Obama was not born in the United States and is thus an illegitimate president.

9) Trump is anti-Muslim.

Retaliated against Muslim Gold Star parents of the late Army Captain Humayun Khan.

Calling for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States.”

10) Trump is an anti-Semitic

He that claims Clinton “meets in secret with international banks to plot the destruction of U.S. sovereignty in order to enrich these global financial powers.”

Mitt Romney’s Tax Release Problem

Editorial pen Editorial

What is in Gov. Mitt Romney taxes that is so explosive? And why does he feel so entitled to the presidency that he can slight the American people? He wants us to believe him when he says “I have nothing to hide. Trust me.” Haven’t we heard that one before? He gave Sen. John McCain 23-years of tax returns for the vice- presidency position but we have to trust him. No Governor. You have already used up that trust when you lied about your Massachusetts taxes and had to retroactively fix them.

What was in his tax returns that caused Sen. McCain to pass over him in favor of Sarah Palin? Lets make a list.

Swiss bank accounts?

Maybe. Swiss banks accounts are used to evade paying taxes.

Tax havens?

Maybe. The status of many tax havens are legally questionable.

Paying a near zero federal income tax rate?

No. Not at issue.

Chinese investments?

No. Not at issue.

How the extreme rich make their money and how advantage they are when it comes time to pay their taxes?

No. Not at issue.

When he ended his employment at Bain Capital?

No. Not at issue.

Romney wealth?

No. McCain is a wealthy man.

Amount of charity giving?

No. Not at issue.

Overseas investments?

No. Not at issue.

Now four years later, he won’t release his returns to the American public. It would be next to nothing since he had already prepared them for Sen. McCain.

Why won’t he release his tax returns? Lets go over the list one more time considering today’s polical environment.

Swiss bank accounts?

Yes. Swiss banks accounts are used to evade paying taxes.

Tax havens?

Yes. The legal status of many of his tax havens are in “gray” areas. Many, maybe the majority with close inspection would be discovered to be illegal.

Paying a near zero federal income tax rate?

Possibly. Many people would be upset knowing they have to pay a higher tax rate on their lower earnings than Romney pays on his investments.

Chinese investments?

Possibly. Investing in China when America is struggling to create jobs kills his contention that he is a “job creator.” It is also not very patriotic.

How the extreme rich make their money and how advantage they are when it comes time to pay their taxes?

Obliviously the extreme rich don’t want this information to be made public and cause the tax code to be changed. It wouldn’t be an issue to Gov. Romney presidential candidacy.

When he ended his employment at Bain Capital?

While this may show he lied about leaving Bain, it would have little effect on the election.

Romney wealth?

No. People already know he is a wealthy man.

Amount of charity giving?

No. He may not be giving 10% to the Morman church. It might even cause him trouble with his church, but the public could care less about it.

Overseas investments?

No. People know he has overseas investments.

Mitt Romney in prison orange

Comparing both lists only two items stand out, tax havens and Swiss bank accounts. These would have trouble Sen. McCain. These items along with paying a near zero federal income tax rate and his Chinese investments would be troubling to the American people.

But in the end Romney will not release his taxes for the one simple reason in my opinion. The legality of his federal taxes. While his taxes may have pass the causal inspection of the over burdened, over worked IRS agents, his tax returns with thousands of eyes looking at them would never pass the mustard. His questionable tax deduction practices would be found out. Then his fraudulent tax returns would be investigated. This time the agents would know what to look for. He would be arrested for tax evasion, found guilty, and sent to prison.

So for Romney it is a simple question. Is the presidency worth the real risk of prison?

He does look good in orange though.

Tom Corbett has never grown up

Tom Corbett has never grown up

Many people believe that today’s youth are more disrespectful and obnoxious than those in previous generations. The worry is that the youth of today will lead to adults with little regards to civil discourse and respect for people with differing viewpoints.

There might be something to this view.

Our research librarian Kat A. Logue found this detention slip. “Tom Corbett used the ‘F’ word in the hall multiple times. When I said to him I should not hear that word he told me to plug my ears & walked away.”

Tom Corbett detention slip

It’s no wonder when asked about his bill requiring women to watch the ultrasound video, Pennsylvanis Governor Tom Corbett (R) flippantly dismissed concerns saying, “[they] just have to close [their] eyes.”

Conservative Republicans Sink to a New Low

Conservative Republicans Sink to a New Low

The conservative Republicans sank to a new low with President George Bush breaching protocol using a foreign speaking engagement before the Israeli Knesset (legislature) to discuss partisan politics. In a thinly veiled statement, Bush attacked Sen. Barack Obama’s (Democrat) views about opening discussions with those we have differences.
